Petroleum Engineer

Wamuyu Miano is a Petroleum Engineering graduate passionate about advancing sustainable

and inclusive energy systems across Africa. With a strong focus on geothermal energy, she

gained hands-on experience at KenGen, building practical insight into drilling operations and

subsurface systems. Her research on locally sourced bentonite for geothermal drilling reflects

her commitment to strengthening local content and improving energy affordability.

Miano also brings experience from Kenya Pipeline Company, shaping her understanding of

the broader energy value chain. She is the Co-Founder and Program Lead of The Swap

Circle, leading initiatives on circular economy and youth engagement. She serves as Youth

Representative for the Society of Petroleum Engineers IRM Technical Section, and is a

STEM mentor through KUFFEST and an Energy4Me volunteer, supporting young women in

STEM. Her work has been recognized regionally through Africa Queens of Energy Student

award 2025 and internationally through Energy Leaders for Tomorrow 2025. She is

passionate about energy access, youth & women empowerment.
