Lydia is a passionate and enthusiastic leader who has worked with government institutions, development partners and private entitiesto harness youth and women energy, talent and potential in the positive direction through training, coaching, building linkages to their businesses and community activities.
In 2013/14, she was the President of Kakamega County Youth Bunge Forum which brought together over 30,000 youth from over 1,000 villages in Kakamega County. During her term, she was the only female President in the National Youth Bunge Association (NYBA), network that covers 23,000 villages across 33 counties in Kenya. She was the assistant secretary of the of NYBA 2013/2014. Lydia was certified as SIYB trainer of entrepreneurs by International Labor Organization (ILO). She has offered trainings and volunteered with Junior Achievement, one of the founders of Youth Entrepreneurship SACCO (YESCO) and Kakamega County Youth Bunge Sacco. She was a trainer and mentor for The Yes Youth can Western Program on economic empowerment, civic education and digital networking.
She has close to 5 years’ experience of working in the financial sector and over 15 years’ experience working with non-corporate institutions. She holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics and Business Studies from Kenyatta University and is currently an MBA (Entrepreneurship) student in the same institution.
She was a trainer and manager at Vijana Reloaded Traineeship which offered training and mentorship on Entrepreneurship, ICT and social skills. She has offered her training and facilitation especially in entrepreneurship to LakeHub, Capital Strategies Kenya/ Equity Group Foundation, Aayden Consultant/Kenya Youth Employment Opportunity Project, Nairobits, MbeleNaBiz/KPMG among many. She is a Co-Director of Community Empowerment Initiative Network (CEIN), a local CBO in Kakamega that seeks to empower the local community using resources within. She facilitates trains and mentors youth and women from 14 East and Central African countries at The Regional Leadership Center for East Africa in Design Driven
